Hockey Tickets

While this writer desperately dreams about the upcoming season, it may not be happening in the near future. While many watched the World Cup of Hockey and have been watching the minor league action around the nation to stave off any major withdrawals, fans will soon need their pro hockey. At this point, it is still unclear when the season will start again, if at all. With the Collective Bargaining Agreement at the forefront of issues, the NHL has a lot of problems to iron out before the games start up again. Until then, arena owners will hope for the best and continue to keep their arena on ice, pardon the bad pun.

Should we be lucky enough to see hockey this season, it's shaping up to be another good one. Tampa Bay looks to repeat after an epic 7-game match against Calgary in the Stanley Cup. With the return of captain Dave Andreychuk for another year, the Lightning are confident they have the strength and speed to hoist Lord Stanley into the air yet again. The Flames, however, led the scoring machine known as Jerome Iginla, have healed from the tough loss and are out again for blood.

Around the rest of the league, Avalanche fans will be without their beloved Peter Forsberg, as he has signed with the Swedish Elite League, along with many of the other Swedish players. To counteract this loss, Colorado has signed Vincent Damphousse, leaving San Jose. With Joel Quenneville as the new coach, the Avalnache look to regain their hold as a dominant and dangerous team in the West.

Detroit hopes to repeat as President Cup winners again, but will have to do so without the help of the black hole known as Dominik Hasek, who signed with Ottawa, and Brett Hull, who is now with Phoenix. This was just one of the many signings the Coyotes made, including the signing of Petr Nedved, Sean O'Donnell and Mike Ricci. Phoenix wants to win and hopes this revamped lineup with be instilled with the winning spirit.
