You can smell it in the air, football is in full swing. That, or Warren Sapp and Tony Siragusa aren't wearing their Right Guard. Six weeks into the season and history is being made on all ranges of the spectrum. First, the New England Patriots keep on winning, currently in the midst of a record-setting consecutive win streak of regular season and total games. With the addition of Corey Dillon, the Pats seem to be the team to beat this season. The other undefeateds are the New York Jets, whose 5-0 start are a franchise best, and the Philadelpia Eagles, who are finally ready to live up to the Super Bowl hype constantly surrounding the team with the acquisitions of Terrell Owens and Jevon Kearse. Donovan McNabb has been putting up MVP-caliber numbers, as has Minnesota QB Daunte Culpepper, who leads a potent offense that has helped put the Vikings atop the NFC Central. Another team of winners have been the Houston Texans, who have won three in a row for the first time in the short history of the franchise. Sadly, after the second, David Carr had to finally cut his flowing mane, but for a perfectly acceptable reason.
Excitement has not been on short supply all over the league, especially in Atlanta. The Falcons are flying high with a 5-1 start, led by the dynamic Michael Vick who is commanding a new West Coast offense under the coaching of Jim Mora. They lead an NFC South that bears the now struggling previous NFC champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers. Close games and injuries have hurt these two teams but they're determined to look ahead to the remainder of the season and change the outcome of their games for the better. In the NFC West, the Rams have turned their team around after a slow start, now sitting atop the division. The Edward Jones Dome hosts some of the greatest sports fans in the world, and this year will be no different as they watch Torry Holt and Marshall Faulk star in the Greatest Show on Turf.
